Audubon Partners for the Environment

Program for Schools and Youth

Audubon International invites schools and youth groups to become Audubon Partners for the Environment.  Participation in the program helps students not only learn about the environment, but also care for the land, water, wildlife, and natural resources around them.

While most schools recognize the importance of educating students about the environment, the day-to-day demands of the classroom, coupled with the need to meet state standards often make environmental education programs difficult to implement.  As Audubon Partners, schools and youth groups can choose from a variety of environmental projects, based on their interests, curricula, resources, and available time.

Who can participate?

  • Youth Groups

  • School Clubs

  • Single or Multiple Classes or Grades

  • An Entire School or Community

What’s involved?

Audubon Partners make a commitment to complete at least one environmental improvement project each year and report their results.  Audubon International provides educational resources and guidance to help partners complete projects, as well as awards and recognition for their achievements. For more on how to get started, click here!

Audubon International partners with schools and youth to:

  • Increase environmental knowledge

  • Help students take action to improve the quality of the environment

  • Inspire youth involvement in service learning activities

  • Improve science learning

  • Teach respect and responsibility

Program Membership Registration Fee:

Project Level Membership $50 ($75 International)*- For schools and youth organizations that wish to complete one or more environmental projects each year.  Registration fee includes educational materials, subscription to Audubon International’s bi-monthy newsletter, Stewardship News, press release, awards for completed projects, and staff guidance.

Certification Level Membership $150 ($200 International)- For schools that wish to become a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary by integrating environmental education and stewardship with conservation practices for buildings and grounds.  The registration fee includes items listed above for Project Level Members, plus a Certification Handbook, site-specific report, and certification award certificate.

Adopt-a-School- Many Audubon Partner schools are “adopted” into the program by local businesses or golf courses that are also enrolled in Audubon International programs.  The adopting organization pays the program registration fee and may offer to assist with projects.  To find out more, download the Adopt-a-School fact sheet below.

* Members that join at the Project Level are welcome to change to the Certification Level at any time, should they decide to pursue certification.
