New York Operations
Public
Education & Outreach
We educate New Yorkers on the actions they can take to protect
the environmental where they live, work, and play. We do this through
New York-specific projects and partnership, as well as through educational
programs and seminars.
In one ongoing education project, local high school students
are learning about stream monitoring techniques, the science behind water
quality, and steps they can take to protect the watersheds where they live.
Audubon International is also
committed to working with other public, private, and nonprofit organizations
throughout New York State—such as the NYSDEC,
NY Farms!,
the Albany County Water Quality Coordinating
Committee, Adirondack Cooperative Loon Program, among others.
Through these innovative partnerships—building on our existing programs—we’re
able to more effectively educate people throughout the state.
Audubon International's
various education and certification programs offer information, tools, and incentives for people to take environmental
action where they live. The New York Operations department is focused on
promoting these tools as a means for businesses, watershed groups, schools,
industry associations, communities, and others across New York State to protect
and sustain the environment.
Finally, our staff make
educational presentations and
seminars of all types throughout New York State. From birding talks to
sustainable communities, New Yorkers hear from us each year.
